UK government rethinks position on social media

Yesterday, the UK government has backed down on its position regarding social media and networks in times of civil unrest. In a meeting organised by the UK government, ministers, police, social network Facebook, telecoms provider Research in Motion ([RIM] the makers of Blackberry), and microblogging service Twitter resulted in unclear direction from the Home Office.

Looking at online music sites with a Magnifier

Google to buy Motorola’s mobile business for £7.7 billion

Google has announced its biggest acquisition yet, the acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $40 USD per share in cash, $12.5 billion in total. Google CEO Larry Page comments, “Our acquisition of Motorola will increase competition by strengthening Google’s patent portfolio, which will enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies."
