The X Factor social media live show finale analysis

The infographic demonstrates how social media predicted the winner, girl band Little Mix, making X Factor history becoming the first group to win. In a X Factor first, Wembley was the venue for the final three contestants Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily and Little Mix performing in front of 10,000 super fans for the all important record deal and shot at the Christmas number one.

Visual.ly releases blog and calls out to social media managers

Infographic and data visualization directory Visual.ly has unveiled its new blog, aptly named the Data Design Blog with its first post, “A line walks into a bar.” The data visualization service also used Twitter to shout out to social media managers to help with feedback on its upcoming infographic and visualization tool.

So, who's going to win? Social media is pointing to a Little Mix victory. Although there may not be huge differences in the actual numbers of fans that each of the four remaining contestants have across both Facebook and Twitter, what separates them is how they are growing week by week. The rate of growth of each contestants social assets is reflected by their performance, what goes on during the week and so on. But viewing figures will obviously have an impact as well. If we look at the average number of fans that each contestant gained throughout the eight weeks, this follows a similar pattern to that of the viewing figures.

There's fresh controversy around how the Marks & Spencers ad featuring the finalists is creating a bit of stir about favouritism, with new editing swapping Misha B’s spot for Amelia Lily. I have also raised twice over the last seven weeks over what could be perceived favouritism of 17 year old Irish contestant Janet Devlin, due to her prominence on the programme’s official YouTube channel and email shots.
