Sprecher Grier Halberstam: Breaking down legal talk

Extending comms for lawyers across departments including specialist service Weblaw

Brief

Sprecher Grier Halberstam (SGH Law) wanted to raise the profile of its IT & e-commerce law group, its partners, solicitors and its specialist online service Weblaw.  We were tasked in raising its awareness to support the law firm to win clients requiring business and technology law services.

Approach

We focused upon traditional public relations, building a rapport with influential journalists across SGH Law’s preferred titles alerting them of articles and features they could build responses for with our assistance.   We opened up the departmental expertise across the business and employment departments, which enabled us to pitch and successfully place expert comment from lawyers Joanne Brook, James Carmody, Emma Shipp, Caroline Walker and more.

Journalists that attended the SGH Law book launch for Domain Names, A Practical Guide may not have immediately recognised its importance for their audience, but with our support the press event widened its reach and relevance.

Impact

Our public relations achieved book reviews with targeted off and online titles building relationships that resulted in journalists seeking further comment for advertising, business, design, marketing and IT titles.  Working with the lawyers across SGH Law’s departments we were able to source employment expertise managing specific journalist enquiries placing coverage broadcast, trade and vertical media.

We achieved over 160 mentions for SGH Law & Weblaw focusing its comms on media relations skilling up the firm to bring its need in-house.
