Co-founder of Social Media Portal to present at Search Engine Strategies (SES)

Co-founder and Editor of Social Media Portal (SMP) to guest speak on video SEO at Search Engine Strategies London 2008

Rachel Hawkes, co-founder and editor of the Social Media Portal (SMP) (http://www.socialmediaportal.com) has been invited to guest speak at Search Engine Strategies (SES) London 2008.

The search marketing conference and expo is to be held from 19-21 February 2008 at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, UK. The SMP is a product of London media consultancy, Elemental Communications, which launched in September 2007. It’s a news and information portal that maps social networking sites and their owners from around the globe.

Hawkes, also an account director at Elemental will present on 20 February 2008 in the Organic & Beyond Track sessions from 14:00 to 15:00 and will address video and podcast search engine optimisation (SEO).

Presenting alongside her is Amanda Watlington, owner of Searching for Profit and Onil Gunawardana, vice president and general manager advertising at blinkx.

“With over 65,000 videos uploaded daily to YouTube and almost 80,000 podcasts available in iTunes it is becoming increasingly difficult for brands, agencies and marketers to have their content found and consumed”, comments Rachel Hawkes, account director at Elemental.

“Video is an incredibly powerful and informative marketing tool and with the fierce competition between brands and consumers vying to get their content seen and heard - it’s important for those at the ’coal face’ to learn techniques to increase the likelihood of having their video and podcasts seen and heard. We will be discussing our experiences working with video for global social media and viral campaigns that we have managed,” concludes Hawkes.

The sessions will be moderated by Anne Kennedy, managing partner at Beyond Ink.
