., one of the world’s leading offshore banking and financial organisations, http://www.offshore.hsbc.com, appointed Networx with the specific task of creating, developing and designing the ‘Getting More From Offshore’ CD-ROM, to be distributed to customers.

The CD-ROM features the interactive ‘HSBC Global Information Screensaver’, ‘Free Internet Software’ designed to help HSBC customers get the best out of the Internet, and an animated introduction to HSBC Bank International’s Internet products and services.

The interactive HSBC Global Information Screensaver is packed full of information on 30 countries. Once installed from the CD it is activated when the computer is at rest, controlled from the PC settings.

Features include:

  • Detailed country information including general information weather, visas and population
  • Time clocks which can be set to any time zone
  • Weights and measures converter, including Spans, Furlongs, Carats and more…
  • International dialling codes Worldwide
  • HSBC’s global locations

The free Internet software that has been placed onto the CD-ROM, has been specially brought together to enable the consumer to browse the Internet and enjoy multimedia features, including streaming video and sound.

Software includes:

  • Netscape 4.76
  • Internet Explorer 5.5
  • Nullsoft
  • Winamp
  • Macromedia Shockwave player
  • RealPlayer 8
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader

Martin Huxford, Managing Director, Networx Electronic Publishing, explains,”Networx have been developing interactive online marketing solutions for financial clients for many years. This CD-Rom has given us the opportunity to further leverage that expertise in the offline environment, to create a focused marketing tool, integrated with the online marketing campaign.

In developing the CD we wanted to ensure that it contained information that would be valuable to expatriate customers and that the information was presented in a stimulating and easy to use format. For this reason we chose the screensaver format for the bulk of the information and an interactive presentation for products and services, encapsulated in a Director shell.

The screensaver will brighten up anyone’s desktop and is packed with useful info for expatriates everywhere. The animated presentation is an engaging and practical way to make information on financial products and services more accessible and when coupled with the online website provides instant opportunities to communicate with the bank.”

Huxford adds, “We are particularly pleased with the interactive introduction that walks consumers through HSBC’s current banking products and services. The addition of sound and the voice over narrator has an immensely positive impact on the way the presentation is perceived. It really catches the attention and makes the whole more accessible. The sound element of multi-media has the power to make the whole communication process easier, more enjoyable and more effective. We are really looking forward to developing this in future productions to play a greater role.

In the presentation the voice lead narrator attracts attention to the screen, and emphasises key messages. Acting as a guide to navigation and interaction with the CD-ROM, and directing customers to where they can learn more, or receive information and assistance.”
