New Media Maze to Promote Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind DVD with DTHML Online Advertising


New Media Maze http://www.newmediamaze.com, the full-service interactive marketing agency is to promote the Momentum Pictures http://www.momentumpictures.co.uk Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind DVD.
The film written by Charlie Kaufman and directed by Michel Gondry tells the story about an introverted man Joel Barish (Jim Carrey), who meets an extroverted woman Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet). Their relationship goes wrong and Joel wants her back, but only to find out she has had him erased from her memory, through medical technology company. He then in turn tries to do the same. The movie also stars Elijah Wood (Patrick), Kirsten Dunst (Mary) and Tom Wilkinson (Dr. Howard Mierzwiak).
The campaign that runs from the beginning of October 2004 will connect with women aged between 18 and 45 years old, and are Charlie Kaufman fans.
Hayley Barker, Account Director at New Media Maze explains, “We will be running DHTML banners across iVillage, The Sun and Virgin.net to raise awareness of the release and drive sales of the title. All creative includes a click to buy button where the return on investment (ROI) can be measured.”

For the competitions we are running, entrants can win copies of the DVD, in addition to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind film merchandise.”
The DTML banner focuses upon a key poignant moment in the film, with creative working around that scene where Carey and Winslet are laying on a frozen lake. The lake cracks, and the creative then plays a clip of the film followed by telling users when then film is out to buy with a ‘click to buy’ link.
Designing and creating a DHTML which reflects the stylised look and feel of this literally mind blowing film was challenging. Ensuring perfect placement for the creative to deliver the greatest maximum impact on the campaign is crucial, so we have selected websites which are able to deliver the technology required to maximise the ads impact, which is inline with the target audience.” adds Barker.
