Web design and development agency on-IDLE release New West End Company’s Very Important Pedestrians (VIP) microsite
17 November 2006, London, UK ----- Web Design and development agency on-IDLE (http://www.on-idle.com) has released the New West End Company’s ‘Shop West End’ (http://www.newwestend.com/vip) microsite.
The microsite is to celebrate Oxford Street and Regent Street becoming a pedestrian-only zone for a whole day on 02 December 2006. The event, entitled Very Important Pedestrians (VIP), is organised by New West End Company (http://www.newwestend.com), a business-led partnership that promotes shopping in the West End.
on-IDLE delivered the site and will maintain it until the new year with the design concept supplied by Small Back Room and event PR being handled by Rain Communications. This is the third year that on-IDLE have been tasked to implement a special microsite over Christmas for the New West End Company.
The microsite falls under the New West End Company consumer site launched at the beginning of 2006. The site is in the process of being re-branded to ‘Shop West End’. Both the New West End Company’s consumer and corporate (http://www.newwestend.com/corporate) Websites were designed, developed and implemented by on-IDLE, supported by its in-house developed dynamic HTML email-sending tools and content management system (CMS).
Ané-Mari Peter, managing director at on-IDLE comments, “With the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) reporting that the UK’s Christmas online spend to reach 7 billion this year, the New West End Company required a flexible microsite that can be updating quickly and easily working within its Shop West End integrated campaign and fitting into the organisation’s long standing core brand message – bringing shoppers to the West End.
With many shoppers electing to use the Web for research and returning to the West End to do their shopping, the microsite needed to be easily accessible and simple to use to communicate the host for activities leading up to Christmas and into the New Year”.
“The site will host a range of promotions centred around the VIP theme with local London media partners including radio, press and direct marketing. It keeps users abreast with what is set to transpire on the VIP day,” adds Jace Tyrrell, head of New West End Company’s marketing & communications.

What does “on-IDLE” mean?
“on-IDLE” is a script handler from the Lingo language used for Macromedia Director. It is a handler that is activated when everything is down – when the computer is idle. The “on” command activates the application / tool / device again. Similar to a car idling, it is ready to go, but only when the handler is activated (gas pedal and gears) does it go. on-IDLE do a lot of trouble-shooting and updates on previously developed work for agencies and companies, making the name more apt than ever in today’s fast changing interactive environment. on-IDLE tease their customers with this made-up script: “on-IDLE go pub”, i.e. leave the problem with them and go and relax.
